It also needs that $8 paywall, to die as a business.

It is a sure-shot way to drive down engagement on the platform and Elon, the white South African, will realize this soon enough.

There are not enough $8/mo social-media users out there to sustain the levels of engagement needed to make a site like Twitter useful.

And it is only useful in the aggregates of really large numbers.

Conversely, the paywall may also bring down the usage to levels that are more manageable in the short term, allowing the folks left in the building to figure out what to do with this platform from both a business and technology viewpoints. They can always bring down the $8 requirement once they know what they are doing.

But on a closing note, allow me to get back to my own needs:

Come on my white South African! Build that Paywall!
