When my wife told me about a plane flipping upside down my reaction was immediate: “was it a Boeing?”
To be clear, I don’t think Boeing is responsible for this latest airplane incident, at least… I don’t know that it was. But such is the reputation that Boeing has earned for itself.

The reputation bears in realities. Here is a Newsweek report from back in March 2024 about 9 different aircraft incidents involving a Boeing plane in the first three months of 2024:

Wikipedia maintains at least two listings of incidents: Boeing 737 MAX groundings; List of accidents and incidents involving the Boeing 737.
The opening paragraph of the second Wikipedia article is quite the eye-popper:
“As of February 2024, there have been a total of 529 aviation accidents and incidents involving all 737 aircraft (not all are notable enough for inclusion on this list), which have resulted in a total of 5,779 fatalities and 234 hull losses.”
I hope the company gets back to the high standards in engineering and safety that it was once known for.
And all of this is also a tragic lesson in how trust works. Once lost, it is hard to win.
