I mean, what else can he do to kick up the numbers here? The advertisers are fleeing. And even if the site’s most active users continue, you need to kick up the usage to stratospheric levels to throw a serious bone to those advertisers… all to get them back.

He is already hoping to do this with FIFA, which is starting in about 24 hours. He needs to massive volumes of usage (and engagement). But FIFA will last for about a month. If Twitter’s infra does not melt down in the next month, he will need something else to juice the platform. And Trump and his ilk are the answer here.

That’s the reason he is posting deceptively good-looking plots about usage numbers … thinking that most folks will not be able to call his bullshit. Alas, horse-faced Twitter users are calling that bullshit:

Even I got to feel for Elon on this. Who would have thought that someone would take the time to recreate Elon’s deceiving plot, by simply setting the y-axis to start from 0?
But I do not feel anything but disdain for this billionaire, sink-carrying, white South African.

I am a literal nobody when it comes to business and product and even I see how badly he is blowing this. And that makes it painfully easy to see what the next moves are going to be.
